About this Resource

Health Services/Technology Assessment Texts (HSTAT) provides access to full-text health information documents for health care decision making. HSTAT is a service of the National Information Center on Health Services Research and Health Care Technology (NICHSR) at the National Library of Medicine.

HSTAT contains a wide variety of publications, including: clinical practice guidelines, quick-reference guides for clinicians, consumer health brochures, evidence reports and technology assessments from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), along with Reports of the Surgeon General (1966 - present), and other federal and state agencies.

Reports of the Surgeon General are available on HSTAT from 1966, you can limit your search to these publications by checking the Limit your search to a specific collection and then clicking on the Search for button, on the resulting screen you can enter your search and select Reports of the Surgeon General. The publications can also be accessed selecting View by Collection under the Contents button, and using the blue arrow buttons to navigate. The National Library of Medicine also maintains a helpful chronological listing of reports.
