Donating Materials

The Medical Historical Library is always interested in considering donations of relevant materials for its collections.

We accept materials that fit our collection priorities. And if the material you wish to donate isn't suitable for this Library, we may be able to advise on a suitable repository elsewhere.

If you have materials which you think would complement our collections, please contact us by email or letter, giving us details of the items you wish to donate. Offers of donated items will be reviewed and assessed quickly. If we do accept items, they will be integrated into the Library's collections, and records will be added to our catalog.

Questions about the donation of historical materials should be directed to Melissa Grafe, the Librarian for Medical History.

Monetary gifts are always welcome! Such gifts allow us to purchase special items or support programs that are beyond our normal means. Consider our Adopt a Rare Book program or membership in the Associates or other ways to give.

Material donated to the Library becomes the property of the university and can be used or disposed of as we see fit. Appraisals of gifts are the responsibility of the donor.  We are happy to provide an acknowledgement letter.

Thank you for considering a donation to the collections of the Cushing/Whitney Medical Historical Library.
