First Wednesday for April: Albarelli and Pharmacy Jars

Date: Wednesday April 1, 2026

3 colorfully decorated ceramic jars

Time: 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Location: 333 Cedar Street / Sterling Hall of Medicine. Medical Historical Library.

Yale students, faculty, and staff are invited to a “First Wednesday” open house at the Medical Historical Library. The special session will showcase a curated selection of historical pharmacy vessels from the Edward Clark Streeter Collection of Weights and Measures.

Come discover the Library’s holdings of albarelli and pharmacy jars dating from 1500 to 1800. Join curator Dr. Phillips for an informal opportunity to discuss these objects and how they expand our understanding of medical history. Faculty and students interested in decorative arts and material culture are especially welcome to inquire about incorporating these objects into teaching and classroom use.

This event is part of the “First Wednesdays” series: a monthly program offering exclusive access to the exceptional holdings of the Medical Historical Library. No RSVP needed. Just drop by!
