The Bioinformatics Support Program provides free access to state-of-the-art commercial bioinformatics software programs and databases for the mining, analysis, functional annotation, and visualization of Next Generation Sequencing data such as Partek Flow, Qlucore Omics Explorer, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, Ingenuity Variant Analysis MetaCore/MetaDrug, Clarivate Drug Intelligence, Biocyc, and TRANSFAC.

It also provides free individual and group instruction and consultation on how to use these software programs as well as many other public databases, data repositories and online tools such as those of the National Center for Biotechnology Information, European Bioinformatics Institute, The Cancer Genome Atlas, and others.

Consultations & Collaborations

CONSULT

Consultation is available (free of charge) to individuals, groups, or teams to address bioinformatics-related research questions and needs. Consultation is mainly provided in-person or remotely over Zoom, but less complex questions may be addressed over email or by phone.

Examples of consultation topics include:

  • Development or narrowing hypothesis in silico by using existing public omics data and literature
  • Identification of appropriate bioinformatics software or databases to answer specific research questions
  • Hands-on tutorials on bioinformatics software licensed by the Medical Library
  • Analysis of bulk and single-cell ChIP-, ATAC-, RNA-seq, and microarray data using library-licensed bioinformatics tools
  • Discussion of analysis using command line tools and R/Python packages
  • Enrichment (pathway and network) analysis and visualization of differentially regulated molecules
  • Finding, retrieving, and using public datasets for cross-referencing research results or hypothesis testing

COLLABORATE

We provide free bioinformatics support and instruction on OMICS data analysis for various kinds of biomedical research projects. By request, we provide letters of support for grants and also collaborate on analyzing the data.

Training

Peer-to-Peer Teaching

Share your knowledge and gain experience by teaching a class or workshop on subjects related to data manipulation/analysis, visualization or experimental design at the Medical Library! Fill out this form if you are interested.

Students in a classroom looking at an instructor

These sessions present an opportunity for those who teach to acquire professional development skills in teaching as documented in our paper: Peer Teaching as Bioinformatics Training Strategy: Incentives, Challenges, and Benefits.

We are looking for sessions on:

  • Image analysis methodologies (ImageJ, MatLab, Photoshop, etc)
  • Omics analysis in (R, Python, bash, etc)
  • Biomedical Data analysis using the clusters
  • Biomedical Data manipulation (R, Python, etc)
  • Statistical analysis software (R, Prism, SPSS, SAS, etc)

If you are interested please fill out this form or contact rolando.milian@yale.edu or sofia.fertuzinhos@yale.edu at the Bioinformatic Support Hub!
