Configuring your browser/device to use the proxy server

Configuring your mobile device

You can configure the proxy server on a mobile device only with a WiFi connection. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network you wish to proxy. Under "HTTP Proxy" configure the proxy by selecting "Manual." Enter the following details:

  • Server: proxy.med.yale.edu
  • Port3128
  • Authenticate: enter your proxy username and password

Please note: This setup is required for each WiFi network you wish to proxy.

To turn off the proxy, return to "HTTP Proxy" settings and change "Manualto "Off".

Configuring your browser

Recommended browsers include Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer. Many users find it convenient to configure one browser to use the proxy server which they will use to access Yale resources and leave another browser "unproxied" for all other web browsing. Wait to configure your browser until you receive the email with your proxy password.
